If you are looking for a premium arcade stick for PS5, PS4, or PC, the Qanba Obsidian 2 is one of the strongest options available for fighting game players.
Designed for competitive play and equipped with genuine Sanwa components, the Obsidian 2 combines premium build quality, responsive controls, and official PlayStation compatibility.
In this review, we’ll look at its features, build quality, compatibility, performance, and whether it is worth buying in India.
Qanba Obsidian 2 – Quick Overview
The Qanba Obsidian 2 is a premium arcade stick designed for players who prefer the feel and precision of traditional arcade controls.
It is officially licensed for PlayStation and supports:
- PS5
- PS4
- PC
It comes with genuine Sanwa parts, making it a strong option for players who want tournament-style controls out of the box.
Premium Sanwa Components
One of the biggest advantages of the Qanba Obsidian 2 is its use of authentic Sanwa arcade parts.
The stick includes:
- Sanwa JLF joystick
- Sanwa OBSF 30mm buttons
Sanwa components are widely used in Japanese arcade cabinets and competitive fighting game setups because they are responsive, durable, and easy to customize.
For players of games like TEKKEN 8, Street Fighter 6, The King of Fighters XV, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, and Guilty Gear, these components provide a familiar and precise arcade feel.
Build Quality and Design
The Qanba Obsidian 2 has a large, sturdy body designed to remain stable during intense gameplay.
Its wide base and anti-slip surface help prevent unwanted movement during matches, while the premium exterior gives it a professional appearance.
The larger size also makes it more comfortable for players who prefer placing the arcade stick on a desk or lap for longer gaming sessions.
PS5, PS4 and PC Compatibility
The Obsidian 2 supports modern PlayStation systems as well as PC.
This makes it especially useful for players who compete across multiple platforms.
For PS5 owners, official PlayStation licensing is a major benefit because it provides direct compatibility with supported fighting games without requiring additional converters.
Tournament Lock Switch
Competitive players will appreciate the built-in Tournament Lock feature.
During tournaments, accidentally pressing buttons such as Options, Share, or system controls can interrupt a match.
The tournament lock helps disable unnecessary controls so you can focus entirely on gameplay.
Touchpad and Audio Support
The Qanba Obsidian 2 includes useful PlayStation-specific features such as:
- Touchpad support
- 3.5mm headset/audio connection
- Microphone mute controls
These features make it more practical for regular PS5 use compared with simpler arcade sticks.
How Does It Perform in Fighting Games?
Performance is where the Obsidian 2 stands out.
The Sanwa JLF joystick provides smooth directional movement, while the Sanwa OBSF buttons are light and responsive.
This makes the controller suitable for:
- Korean backdash practice in TEKKEN
- Quarter-circle and dragon-punch inputs
- Charge characters
- Fast combo execution
- Precise movement and blocking
- Tournament play
Players already familiar with arcade controls should feel comfortable quickly.
Qanba Obsidian 2 vs Cheaper Arcade Sticks
The Obsidian 2 costs more than entry-level arcade sticks, but the higher price comes with several advantages.
Compared with cheaper models, you get:
- Better build quality
- Genuine Sanwa components
- Official PS5 support
- Larger and more stable body
- Tournament lock
- Touchpad support
- Headset connectivity
- Easier long-term customization
For casual players, a cheaper stick may be enough.

The Qanba Titan is more compact and portable, while the Obsidian 2 provides a larger body and more premium overall feel.
